NYFW x MAO INTERNSHIP

I applied for an internship position at MAO PR in New York City not really knowing whether or not they would accept my application. A few days go by and the next thing you know I’m doing phone interviews and getting my NYFW (New York Fashion Week) schedule sent to me! Everything was happening so fast… but I loved it!
On my first day in New York I decided that I should get familiar with my new route to work as the last thing I wanted was to be late. So, I get dressed in some casual attire and set off on my transit journey. It took me about half an hour to get from my home in Spanish Harlem to the busy streets of Manhattan which was perfect. (A huge upgrade from my 2 hour commute from my home in Brampton to my workplace Downtown Toronto!)
So I’m standing on the cobble stone street admiring the scenery, Alexander McQueen store at my back and DVF on my right. I was in fashion heaven! I decided to go up to my office and introduce myself and I definitely was not prepared for what was going to happen next…

As I entered the office I was bombarded with people giving me directions and and instructions on my role at the Sally LaPointe show. Although I wasn't prepared (in terms of attire) and wasn't expecting to attend a show, I was off to the studio and ready to work!

The Sally LaPointe show was a huge production. Her Collection was inspired by the dark room in a photography studio! Here are some pictures of the show.

I Loved Sally La Pointe's Collection and her show piece was definitely a show stopper!

The next day I was at the MIK CIRE show at the Lincoln Center

All in all my experience interning for MAO PR was wonderful and filled with memories that I will ever forget. I never really knew the power of interning until this past fashion week and I would encourage everyone to take their dreams into their own hands, and apply for an internship position with a company of their choice. There is nothing more beautiful than a free educational experience.
